Shortly after the appetisers were served, games were in the
limelight. It started with a first round trivia quiz about movies
ranging from Humphrey Bogart’s to Stephen Chow’s. The
five winning tables met the test of being knowledgeable in
movies, possibly quick in googling and smart enough to find
Christina Gaw (1989) who was discreetly standing at the
souvenir table outside the ballroom collecting the answer
sheets.
The second round was show time for our annual dinner
helpers. Derek Yeung (1989), Ferdinand Cheuk (1991),
Spencer Fung (1990), Kenneth So (1996) and Mason Wu (1995)
acted famous scenes using props that could rival the best of
the Hollywood soundstages. Ronald, our MC, doubled as a
singer for the movie theme songs with his most amazing and
powerful voice. The contestants’ job was to guess the right
movies. Special credit went to Derek who insisted on finishing
the act he had worked so hard for despite the contestant
getting the correct answer at first glance. We also reached a
final tiebreak when the second finalist won with our last and
impromptu movie acting of Star Wars by Ferdinand.
The third and final round was the contestants’ turn to act.
